Automatic and direct typing
Keep Windows on the English layout. Automatic correction checks words against evidence and context; direct Persian typing maps each key immediately. If a replacement cannot be verified as safe, Diyar leaves the text unchanged.
Separate keys for English and Persian
In Settings › Typing › Caps Lock and hold key, choose Key for English and Key for Persian. A previous Persian hold key is migrated automatically. Direct Persian typing shows only the English key.
The same key or both sides of one modifier cannot be assigned to both. If both keys are held, the first pressed wins. Caps Lock can act as an on/off switch.
English-only places
Settings › Typing › English-only places has separate switches for address and payment fields and, in automatic correction, terminals, launchers, database tools, remote desktops and password managers. Password fields remain protected.
PowerShell or cmd within Windows Terminal follows its switch. Browser suggestions may interfere if address-bar protection is disabled; restore it or use direct typing if needed.
Windows shortcuts with the hold key
Hold-key combinations with Win, Ctrl or Alt reach Windows, including Win+Shift+S and Ctrl+Shift+T. Ctrl+Z remains Undo while typing. Let Windows shortcuts use the hold key is enabled by default. Release and press the hold key again to resume ordinary typing.
Dictionary, translation and fonts
Manage personal words and technical terms. Translation is optional and separate from typing: Foundry Local runs on-device; Azure requires your own key and an explicit translation request.
Know whether fonts were applied
Shabnam, Shabnam Light and Shabnam Thin are installed with Diyar. Settings › Fonts warns about missing fonts. Written means a browser setting was saved, though a site may use its own font; Reverted means the setting changed back. Show in browser opens a preview. Close browser windows before Apply; restart Firefox and Thunderbird once.
