Your data and Diyar

Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Diyar ("the Application") handles your data. A separate section covers information you voluntarily submit through the website support form.

Last updated:

Overview and privacy principle

The Diyar application does not transmit your typing input, personal data, or usage telemetry to any destination. All core typing operations remain on your device. The developer does not collect, store, or monitor this information.

Within the application, the only exception for sending user text is an Azure translation request that you explicitly initiate, as described below.

Offline language detection

The core functionality of the Application—including automatic language detection and key mapping—operates entirely offline. No internet connection is required or used for this language processing, and your typing input does not leave your machine.

Optional translation and your own Azure key

Text translation is optional and separate from core typing. Foundry Local processes selected text on your device; that text is not sent elsewhere and no Azure API key is required.

To use Azure Translator, you obtain your own API key, enter it in Diyar, and configure the Azure translation option. This is the Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model.

Text is sent only when Azure is configured and you explicitly request a translation of text you have selected. Diyar sends only that selected text directly to Microsoft Azure for translation and receives the translated result. Configuring the key alone does not cause your typing or other text to be sent. No developer or intermediary server is involved.

Secure credential storage

Your Azure API key is saved in Windows Credential Manager using native operating-system security features. Diyar does not store the key as plain text, in ordinary files, or on cloud servers. The Application accesses the credential through Windows system APIs; the developer does not have access to your key.

No data collection by the developer

The developer does not collect data through Diyar. This includes:

  • No keystroke or typed-text history collected by the developer.
  • No user analytics or performance telemetry.
  • No personal identification information.
  • No diagnostic or crash reports sent to the developer.

Third-party services

If you choose to enable Azure Translation, your use of that service is subject to the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We encourage you to review Microsoft's policies regarding API data handling.

Website analytics

The website records aggregated page views, clicks on the direct-download and Microsoft Store links, on its own server. The report groups the page, language, broad source category and window-width category by UTC day. It does not record typed text, form contents, complete URLs, IP addresses or user identifiers in the analytics database. Ordinary web-server access logs may contain IP addresses.

Analytics is separate from the Diyar application. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are respected. You can also disable website analytics in this browser below; this choice is stored locally and in a preference cookie. Data older than 90 days is removed by a daily scheduled task, which depends on WordPress scheduling running. Blocking scripts or privacy signals can make reports incomplete.

JavaScript and browser storage are required to change this choice.

Voluntary website support reports

The website support form is separate from the Diyar application. It does not read or collect your typing inside the app. When you submit the form and agree to send it, the contact details, report text, and optional file you choose are transmitted to FormSubmit for forwarding to both support addresses below.

The report is used to investigate your request and reply to you. It is not published on the website or added to a website report database. Copies are delivered to the support email inboxes.

FormSubmit's documentation states that it retains form submissions for 30 days; uploaded files are not retained in that submission archive. Its privacy policy applies to its processing. The service may ask for anti-spam verification during submission.
